The learning objectives for this course are:

  • Understand and describe their role and responsibilities as the Safeguarding lead;
  • Ensure that they lead their organisation in embedding safeguarding practices at every level, including highlighting the importance of safeguarding to Board, and then throughout their organisation;
  • Plan to cover safeguarding in all staff inductions, which includes education on Low Level Concerns, safeguarding and child protection;
  • Ensure that the reporting of concerns is something everyone feels comfortable with,
  • Embed a system for reporting concerns which is fit for purpose, and complies with all relevant statutory requirements, on data protection and confidentiality;
  • Understand the importance of multi agency working, sharing information themselves, education staff to share information, and challenging those who fail to share information;
  • Ensure safeguarding is part of the wider governance piece, understanding risk and planning for it.

I don't think online safeguarding courses are effective

I think some training, such as safeguarding should have to be completed face to face, where a tutor can determine if you have received the information well enough.
